We are recruiting for an Operations Manager. Please read below to see if this could be your opportunity to play a key role in Orkney's biggest ever event.

To help us deliver the best possible Orkney 2025 Games we are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual for the post of Orkney 2025 Operations Manager.

Role description

The Operations Manager position will support the Games Director and the Organising Committee to ensure the Games are executed professionally, on time, within budget and to exceed the expectations of Member Islands and the residents of Orkney.

This will involve taking responsibility for key aspects of the project. This full-time role is ideal for someone interested in gaining varied and hands-on experience in Event and Sport Management.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support the Games Director, Deputy Games Director and key volunteers across all operational areas.

• Key liaison for the Volunteer Programme Functional Area (includes scheduling, rostering, training and management of volunteers).

• Responsible for co-ordination of Games logistics (warehouse, delivery, inventories, uniform distribution etc).

• Create and compile event policies and procedures.

• Create, issue and pay invoices

• Update and manage the Games database.

• Manage the Games time office.

• Assist with the delivery and production of all Games time accreditation.

• Assist with the delivery of the spectator experience across all venues.

• Assist with any other activity required by the Games Director and Organising Committee to ensure the successful execution of the Games.

Skills required

· Exceptional organisational and time management abilities

· Experience of working with and managing volunteers

· Excellent database management skills; experienced in the use of information technology and reporting.

· Previous experience in event or venue/sports management is preferred but not essential

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, frequently under pressure, on multiple tasks.

· Adept at building cooperative and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· Self-motivation and able to work independently.

· Demonstrable strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Remuneration and benefits

• Competitive salary, IRO £25,000, depending on experience.

• Occupational pension scheme.

• 35 days Annual leave, including 8 days public holidays.
