Orkney 2025 will use an accommodation handling agent to manage, contract and allocate all accommodation for the delegates of the Orkney 2025 Island Games. Details of the agent will be sent to all Member Islands as soon as they are available. The agent will have a range of packages to choose from; you will book with the agent who will then allocate your accommodation.
Please be aware that due to the limited accommodation on our small island, it will not be possible to accommodate entire Member Island teams together. The allocation of accommodation to each Member Island will be based on its delegation size and requirements. Decisions will be made fairly and in consultation with the Member Islands. The OC will have final decision on the allocation process.
Due to inflation, the Games taking place over peak season when Scottish schools are on holiday, and being two years from the event, prices mentioned here are a rough estimate and should be used only as a guide.
Hotel
We will be offering a range of rooms at hotels in Kirkwall, Stromness and across the Orkney Mainland.
- Single, twin or triple rooms (1, 2 or 3 single beds in each room)
- Doubles (1 bed for 2 people) are available and should be specified when booking
- Breakfast will be included in the price and provided by the hotel
- Prices will likely start from £200 per person per night
Bed & Breakfast / Guesthouse
This package will be similar to the Hotel option, but with rooms provided in smaller establishments. Rooms will be offered across Orkney’s Mainland including Kirkwall and Stromness.
- Single, twin, or triple rooms (1, 2, or 3 single beds in each room)
- Doubles (1 bed for 2 people) are available and should be specified when booking
- Breakfast will be included
- Prices will likely start from £150 per person per night
Self-Catering
There are many self-catering units in our two towns and across Orkney’s Mainland. These will represent a great option for the smaller teams and for those sports being held outside Kirkwall such as Shooting and Golf.
- Single, twin, or triple rooms (1, 2, or 3 single beds in each room)
- Doubles (1 bed for 2 people) are available and should be specified when booking
- No meals will be included within this package, but full cooking facilities will be available in the accommodation. There are supermarkets in Kirkwall and Stromness.
- Prices will likely start from £100 per person per night
Hostel
Existing, modern school halls of residence will be made available to delegates. This is a fantastic bright and modern facility close to the center of Kirkwall.
- Twin, triple or quad rooms with 2, 3, or 4 single beds. Some beds will be camp beds
- Toilet and shower facilities will be either ensuite or close by
- Lockable rooms or lockers will be provided
- Breakfast and possibly an evening meal will be included
- Prices will likely start from £65 per person per night
Dormitory
Dormitory accommodation will be offered in various schools and community halls across the Orkney Mainland. These will be a great option for the larger sporting teams such as Athletics, Football, and Gymnastics and in some cases will also offer the opportunity to be accommodated close to the sporting venues.
- School and community halls will be converted into dormitories with camp beds
- Toilet and shower facilities will be made available, possibly outside
- Lockable lockers for small high-value items will be provided
- Wardrobes or chests of drawers will not be available
- Breakfast will be included
- Prices will likely start from £45 per person per night
